General
What is the advantage of warming milk with a bottle warmer?
Heating food or milk with a bottle warmer offers a convenience that a microwave does not. When using a microwave, there is a high chance of hot spots (milk above 50°C), which causes important nutrients to be lost. This risk is minimized with a bottle warmer due to the targeted temperature. The bottle warmer is ready quickly and the bottle can be kept warm for a longer time.
Cleaning / Sterilising
How do you clean the bottle warmer?
The parts of the bottle warmer can be washed by hand. They are not dishwasher safe.
The bottle warmer itself needs to be descaled regularly to ensure optimal performance. To descale, pour 100 ml of water and 50 ml of vinegar into a cooled and switched-off bottle warmer. Do not leave this in the reservoir for longer than 30 minutes to prevent damage. Then rinse the bottle warmer thoroughly with clean water.
For detailed instructions, see the manual.
Should the bottle warmer be rinsed or steam-cleaned before its first use?
Before use, the bottle warmer must be wiped with a damp cloth. The loose parts can be hand-washed with warm water and a mild detergent, and then rinsed with warm water.
Can the loose parts be put in the dishwasher?
The loose parts of the bottle warmer are not dishwasher safe. These parts can be cleaned by hand. The bottle warmer itself only needs to be descaled. To do this, add 100ml of water and 50ml of vinegar to the reservoir of a cooled and switched-off bottle warmer. Do not leave it for longer than 30 minutes to prevent damage. After descaling, rinse the bottle warmer with warm water.
For detailed instructions and remarks, see the manual.
Can the bottle warmer also sterilize bottles/jars?
The bottle warmer can steam clean bottles/food jars.
For the Difrax S-bottle, unscrew the bottom and the top of the bottle. Then, add 75-85 ml of water to the water reservoir and place the basket and the bottle body into the basket. By selecting the hot mode, the bottle warmer will steam clean the bottle.
Loose parts can also be cleaned this way.
Other bottles or food jars must be placed upside down in the basket for steam cleaning.
For sterilizing bottles or jars, the microwave sterilizer can be used.
Use
Which bottles fit in the bottle warmer?
Our bottle warmer is versatile and universal:
- The Mammafeel bottle, all our S-bottles, and handled bottles fit into it without any problem, both the wide and narrow variants.
- Also glass baby bottles can be safely used in the bottle warmer.
- The bottle warmer is suitable for almost any brand of baby bottle, making it flexible to use.
This way, you can quickly find the right bottle and always feed your baby safely and comfortably.
What is the difference between the three modes?
The bottle warmer has 3 different modes:
Hot mode: In hot mode, you can quickly heat water and breast milk. This way, your baby's food will be ready in no time. In this mode, bottles or jars can also be steam-cleaned.
PLEASE NOTE: when heating breast milk, we recommend swirling the bottle occasionally. This food should not be heated too quickly, so all parts of the food reach the same temperature, preventing hot spots.
Bottle mode: In bottle mode, breast milk in storage bags and jars can be thawed. The keep-warm setting is also under this button. Bottle mode can keep water at the suitable feeding temperature for up to 10 hours.
PLEASE NOTE: Bottles with a screw-off base (including the Difrax S-bottle) are not suitable for this.
Dinner mode: In dinner mode, a jar of solid food can be thawed. This applies to glass and plastic jars. Furthermore, this mode can also keep food warm. Solid food can stay warm for up to 3 hours in dinner mode.
Does the food go into the bottle warmer with or without the nipple and cap?
Bottle: The bottle can be placed in the bottle warmer in all modes with the teat but without the cap.
Food jar: The food jar can be placed in the bottle warmer without the lid.
How long can food stay in the bottle warmer?
In bottle mode, a bottle of water can be kept warm for up to 10 hours.
Keeping solid food warm in dinner mode can be done for up to 3 hours.
Can you thaw bags and jars of frozen breast milk in the bottle warmer?
Yes. On the bottle and dinner mode, storage bags and jars with breast milk and solid food can be defrosted. You set the standard temperature from 40 to 35 degrees. To then get the food to the correct temperature, use the hot mode. Don't forget to check the temperature before feeding your child.
Why is it better to use pre-boiled water when using the bottle warmer?
For optimal preservation of your device and to prevent limescale buildup, it is best to use pre-boiled water.
Does the bottle warmer also work on batteries so it can be used on the go?
The bottle warmer operates with a cable connection and should only be used on a sturdy surface. Therefore, it cannot be used on the go. You can, of course, take it with you to a holiday destination; the cable can be stored in the bottle warmer.
Why can't the S-bottle be kept warm in bottle mode until 10 AM?
A bottle with a screw-off bottom is not suitable for bottle mode. The valve in the bottom is not suitable for prolonged immersion in water. Additionally, it is not recommended to keep food warm for a long time, to ensure the quality of the food. Water can be kept warm in bottle mode. You can then pour this into the S-bottle with the food, and you will have the food readily available quickly and easily at night.
What food can I warm in the bottle warmer?
You can warm all baby food in the bottle warmer. Baby bottles, containers of breast milk, and even glass and plastic jars of solid food can be warmed.
Can I quickly defrost the frozen products using the hot mode?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. Frozen food must first be thawed using the meal/bottle mode. After this, the food can be brought to temperature by heating it in hot mode.
Can I keep food or breast milk warm in the bottle warmer?
The bottle/dinner mode allows you to keep water and solid food warm in the bottle warmer.
Add 200 ml of water to the water reservoir and place the bottle/jar in the reservoir. Set the display to bottle/dinner mode and the desired temperature, and the timer will start. After 10 or 3 hours, the bottle warmer will switch off automatically. You can, of course, stop the program earlier.
It is not recommended to keep food warm for extended periods.
For detailed instructions, please refer to the manual.
Technical
The bottle warmer does not start immediately after selecting the mode, what now?
After selecting the mode, the bottle warmer will automatically start after a few seconds. If you have selected hot mode, you will hear the water bubbling/boiling quite soon after. For the other two modes, you will see the counter change after one minute.
My bottle warmer is making a gurgling sound, what is that?
When the bottle warmer is switched on and you are warming, defrosting or keeping food warm, the water will bubble because it is heating up. This is normal and indicates that the product is working correctly.
My bottle warmer is no longer working, what should I do?
