A Look Back at My Internship at Design: My Experience at Difrax
Hi, my name is Vjera and I'm interning at Difrax's design department. I'm currently studying Media and Communication at Nimeto, just a bus ride from Bilthoven station. The Difrax office is a short 5-minute walk from there, and I'd like to take you on a retrospective of my internship.
Introduction to the internship location
It all started with an exciting introduction round. In the first week, I visited everyone to get to know both my colleagues and the company. In the second week, I was already at the 9-month trade fair. It was a fantastic experience! I helped set up the trade fair, which allowed me to quickly become familiar with product codes and the products themselves. Moreover, I spent two days interacting with visitors, giving me a good understanding of the company and its consumers before I took on my own responsibilities.
Experiences and responsibilities
My internship at Difrax encompassed a wide range of tasks. Naturally, there were standard tasks, such as taking and editing product photos and selecting and formatting thumbnails. But I also received challenging assignments, such as devising and creating photos for social media posts and contributing to the development of packaging within the new corporate identity. I also wrote copy for YouTube videos and produced product videos, featuring both people and close-ups of the products. All of this significantly strengthened my skills.
What made my internship at Difrax extra special was the freedom I was given. If I wanted to spend a day shadowing another department or taking on a new project, there was always room for me. This made my internship not only educational but also incredibly enjoyable. For example, I explained Canva to the purchasing department and spent a day working in the warehouse creating engaging videos for social media and my company video. By actively participating, expressing your wishes, and seizing opportunities, you can make your internship a valuable and unforgettable experience.
Skills development
During my internship, I learned a lot, such as working with Adobe programs, writing texts, giving presentations, receiving feedback, and more. I also gained a wealth of knowledge about the children's industry. As an 18-year-old, I knew little about babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, but I quickly learned a lot about this market and the early stages of a child's life.
During my internship, Difrax launched several new products, such as the Mammafeel bottle and Pinky, and more are in development. I found this very interesting, because I not only worked on promoting existing products but was also involved in the introduction of new ones.
Looking back on the journey
My internship at Difrax was a journey full of challenges and successes. I developed new skills, gained valuable insights, and rediscovered my passion for the children's sector.
This experience has not only helped me further my professional development but has also contributed to my personal growth. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to intern at Difrax and look forward to further developing both Difrax and my own skills. Will you join us?
