The causes

There are a number of causes for intestinal cramps of your baby.
One of the causes is swallowing air while drinking. It is best to avoid this by choosing the right bottle. Another cause may be that the food is not yet fully digested because the stomach is not yet fully developed. Switching to other foods can also cause colic.

You recognize it immediately!

Crying loud and penetrating, red face, clenched fists, kicking and pulling legs, blowing wind and excessive stretching - these are the most common symptoms of intestinal cramps. Your baby is also restless and has a tight tummy.

A burp is necessary

If a baby has air in the stomach, it can be painful. The air causes intestinal cramps. It also makes you feel full, so your baby won't want to drink anymore. The solution: make sure your baby always burps after a feed.

Take your time

When bottle-feeding, it is important that your baby empties the bottle calmly. It is normal for your baby to take about 20 minutes to finish a bottle. Taking a break is also good. Of course, you don't have to worry immediately if your child takes it faster. Make sure you are using the correct pacifier for the food you are giving. Are you breastfeeding? Always let your baby empty the breast. The last breast milk is fatter and stays for longer in the stomach.
