Frequently asked questions about the Difrax bottle warmer
General
Warming up food or milk with a bottle warmer offers convenience not offered by a microwave. Using a microwave increases the chance of a hot spot (milk above 50°C). Important nutrients can be lost if you use a microwave, and the risk of this is minimised with a bottle warmer due to the targeted temperature. The bottle warmer is ready quickly, while the bottle can be kept warm for a longer time.
cleaning / sterilizing
The bottle warmer parts can be washed by hand. Do not wash any parts in the dishwasher.
The bottle warmer itself must be descaled regularly to ensure it continues to work optimally. First cool the bottle warmer and ensure it is switched off. You can then descale the bottle warmer by pouring 100 ml of water and 50 ml of vinegar into it. To avoid damage, do not leave the mixture in the reservoir for longer than 30 minutes. Rinse the bottle warmer thoroughly with clean water afterwards.
See the manual for more detailed instructions.
The bottle warmer must be wiped with a damp cloth before use. The individual parts can be washed by hand with warm water and a mild detergent, and then rinsed with warm water.
Never put the individual bottle warmer parts in the dishwasher. Only ever clean these parts by hand. The bottle warmer itself only needs to be descaled. First cool the bottle warmer and ensure it is switched off. Then descale the bottle warmer by pouring a mixture of 100 ml of water and 50 ml of vinegar into it. To avoid damage, do not leave the mixture in the reservoir for longer than 30 minutes. After descaling, rinse the bottle warmer with warm water.
See the manual for more detailed instructions and notes.
The bottle warmer can steam clean bottles/food jars.
For the Difrax S bottle, first unscrew the bottle bottom and top. Put 75-85 ml of water in the water reservoir and place the basket and body of the bottle in the basket. Selecting the hot mode will ensure the bottle warmer steam cleans the bottle.
The individual parts can also be cleaned in this way.
Other bottles or food containers must be placed upside down in the basket for steam cleaning.
The microwave steriliser can be used to sterilise bottles or jars.
Usage
All our S-bottles and handle bottles fit in the bottle warmer. This includes both the wide and narrow bottles.
The bottle warmer is suitable for almost every brand of baby bottle, which makes the bottle warmer universal.
The bottle warmer has 3 different modes:
Hot mode: Hot mode allows you to quickly heat water and breast milk. This will ensure you have your child’s food ready in no time. Bottles or jars can also be steam cleaned in this mode.
PLEASE NOTE: we recommend turning the bottle upside down when heating breast milk. This type of food should not be heated too quickly to ensure all parts of the food heat equally and to prevent hotspots.
Bottle mode: Bottle mode allows you to thaw jars and breast milk in storage bags. The keep warm setting is located below this button. Bottle mode can keep water at a suitable temperature for feeding for up to 10 hours.
PLEASE NOTE: Bottles with a scorable bottom (including the Difrax S bottle) are not suitable for this. In addition, we do not recommend breast milk for this
Dinner mode: Dinner mode allows a jar of solid food to be defrosted. This applies to glass and plastic jars. Furthermore, this mode can also keep the food warm. Solid food can be kept warm for up to 3 hours in dinner mode.
Bottle: The bottle goes in the bottle warmer in all modes with soother without cap.
Food jar: The food jar goes in the bottle warmer without lid.
A bottle of water can be kept warm in bottle mode for
up to 10 hours.
Solid food can be kept at the right temperature in dinner mode for up to 3 hours.
Yes. Storage bags and jars containing breast milk and
solid food can be defrosted in both bottle and dinner mode. Set the standard temperature from 40 to 35 degrees. To then get the food to the correct temperature, use the hot mode. Don’t forget to check the temperature before feeding your baby.
It is best to use pre-boiled water to ensure optimal preservation of your device and to prevent limescale.
The bottle warmer works on a cable connection and must only be used on a sturdy surface. It should therefore not be used while travelling. You can of course take it with you to a holiday address; the cable can be stored in the bottle warmer.
A bottle with a screw-off bottom is not suitable for bottle mode. The valve in the bottom is not suitable for remaining in water for such a period of time. In addition, keeping food warm for a long period of time is not recommended if you wish to retain its quality. Water can be kept warm in bottle mode. Pour the water into the S-bottle with the food so you can easily and quickly have the food at hand at night.
You can warm all baby food in the bottle warmer. You can heat baby bottles, breast milk jars and glass and plastic jars containing solid food.
Unfortunately, this is not possible. Frozen food must first be defrosted using the dinner/bottle mode. After this, the food can be brought up to temperature by heating it in hot mode. You can see approximately how long this will take below:
You can keep water and solid food warm in the bottle warmer in bottle/dinner mode.
Add 200 ml of water to the water reservoir and place the bottle/jar in the reservoir. Set the display to bottle/dinner mode, set the desired temperature, and the time will start. The bottle warmer
switches off automatically after 10 or 3 hours. You can of course stop the programme earlier.
Keeping food warm for a long time is not recommended.
See the manual for more detailed instructions.
Technical
After selecting the mode, the bottle warmer starts automatically after a few seconds. If you have selected hot mode, you will quickly hear the bubbling/boiling of the water. For the other two modes, you will see the counter jump after a minute.
If the bottle warmer is turned on and you are heating, defrosting or keeping food warm, the water will bubble because it is getting warm. This is fine and is simply an indication that the product is doing its job.
